An eczema blanket is used for horses suffering from summer eczema. Summer eczema is an allergic reaction to the midge, also known as a gnat. If your horse is hypersensitive to gnats, it cannot be cured. When these gnats bite your horse, it causes itching, leading your horse to scratch and rub itself.

The Eczema Blanket

An eczema blanket is made from a thick fabric that gnats cannot bite through. It is recommended to use the blanket when gnats are active, starting from March, and they usually disappear around September. It is advisable to start using this blanket from March.
