Lick block with magnesium:
The high magnesium content in the Super Mag has an impressively positive effect on the birth of healthy foals, calves, or lambs. Magnesium is a mineral required for bone and muscle formation, nerve impulse transmission, and proper muscle function. It also contributes to the prevention of laminitis. A magnesium deficiency, among other things, causes cells to become less sensitive to insulin, resulting in fluctuating blood sugar levels and an accumulation of sugar in the blood. This high concentration of sugar can lead to inflammation in the hoof, the cause of laminitis.
Salt and trace elements:
Salt and trace elements are essential components of daily nutrition, contributing to good health and better performance. Salt is the most important mineral that horses, cattle, sheep, and goats need. The natural salt content of grass and hay is insufficient to fully meet the needs of the animals. Animals have a natural ability to sense their salt requirements, and with the Super Mag lick blocks, they can meet their individual needs.
Why magnesium oxide in the lick block instead of magnesium citrate or chelate:
When feeding magnesium to your horse, it is important that magnesium dissolves well so that it is absorbable for the horse. If a deficiency needs to be replenished, and therefore large amounts of magnesium need to be fed, a magnesium form that is well soluble in the stomach, such as citrate or chelate, is required. However, in a lick block, magnesium (oxide) enters the stomach in small amounts, a maintenance dose. The small amounts of magnesium oxide from a lick block dissolve in the acidic environment of the stomach because it is such a small quantity, making the magnesium absorbable for the horse. In addition, magnesium oxide can better withstand the salty environment of the lick block.
