- Supplemented with various vitamins and minerals
- Contains live yeast = probiotics
- Promotes better digestion and immunity
- Supplementary feed for horses
Lick stone with probiotics:
The live yeast (probiotics) in the Hi-Yeast lick stone promote the activity of bacteria that digest rough fibers in the large intestine. This makes the fiber structures in hay and straw easier to digest. Especially during the transition from grass to hay and straw, many problems can be prevented because the bacteria in the large intestine are prepared for their work.
In addition, live yeast cells provide non-specific stimulation of the immune system. Live yeast stimulates the defense regularly, making the body better able to suppress or eliminate toxins.
Supplementing salt needs with a lick stone:
Salt is the most important mineral that horses, cattle, sheep, and goats need. The natural salt content of grass and hay is insufficient to fully meet the needs of the animals. The animals have a natural ability to sense their salt needs, and with the Hi-Yeast lick stones, they can meet their individual needs.
Why magnesium oxide in the lick stone instead of magnesium citrate or chelate:
When feeding magnesium to your horse, it is important that the magnesium dissolves well so that it is absorbable for the horse. If a deficiency needs to be replenished and large amounts of magnesium need to be fed, a magnesium form that is well soluble in the stomach, such as citrate or chelate, is required. However, in a lick stone, magnesium (oxide) comes in small amounts into the stomach, a maintenance dose. The small amounts of magnesium oxide from a lick stone dissolve well in the acidic environment of the stomach, making the magnesium still absorbable for the horse. In addition, magnesium oxide can better withstand the salty environment of the lick stone.
Hi Yeast lick stone is suitable for:
Horses that receive very hard and fibrous roughage, to improve the digestion of these hard structures and allow horses to extract more nutrients from them
Horses that regularly suffer from (gas) colic
Horses that often have poorly digested or thin manure
