This lotion soothes the skin of the horse, reducing or eliminating itching. Additionally, it has anti-inflammatory properties and promotes wound healing by stimulating skin repair. "New packaging, trusted formula".
Skincalmin Relief Lotion has an immediate soothing effect on itching. With regular use, it reduces the skin's hypersensitivity reaction, leading to a reduction or elimination of itching. The lotion has anti-inflammatory properties and stimulates skin repair, resulting in faster healing of wounds and hair regrowth.
Skincalmin Relief Lotion has an immediate soothing effect on itching. It contains a natural identical active substance that inhibits histamine formation in the skin, reducing skin hypersensitivity and itching. The lotion is anti-inflammatory and stimulates skin repair, promoting faster healing of wounds and hair regrowth. The skin is hydrated, keeping it soft and supple. Known symptoms of summer eczema, such as hard skin and skin folds, will decrease or disappear. The lotion is easy to use, dermatologically tested, and gentle on the skin. It is not necessary to use gloves when applying the lotion. Thanks to the addition of cade oil and tea tree oil, the lotion has a (light) insect-repelling effect.
Skincalmin has been extensively tested on various horses and ponies with summer eczema.
In 2013, Feral Horse Care tested Skincalmin Relief Lotion on ten horses with summer eczema. In almost all horses, itching significantly decreased or disappeared entirely. In the spring of 2014, we asked about 65 people to test Skincalmin Relief Lotion on their horses or ponies. The test included horses of various breeds, from Icelandics, Haflingers, and Shetlands to Arabians and KWPNs. The horses were located throughout the Netherlands. The test results were very positive.
- Approximately 89% of the horses had significantly less itching compared to the previous year.
- Approximately 75% of the horses had little or no itching at all.
- Many horses no longer needed an eczema blanket.
- Most horses were much calmer and less irritated.
- Wounds healed faster.
- Wound infections decreased.
- Hair grew back faster.
We aim for 100% satisfaction, but during the test, we did not have control over all factors affecting the horses, such as grazing, nutrition, exercise, etc. Since summer eczema involves many factors, including nutrition, it is important to consider the whole picture. We are confident that with the right advice, we can get even closer to 100%. If you have ordered Skincalmin from us, feel free to ask for personal advice. We are happy to help! Apply the lotion generously to the affected areas. Use the nozzle to apply the lotion easily between the hairs of the tail and mane. Use the lotion at the beginning of the season, preferably when you know where your horse normally itches, to prevent itching and rubbing. Usually, 2-4 times a week is sufficient. Start applying at the first signs of itching. If you start later, that's not a problem. Apply the lotion to the already irritated skin affected by rubbing for an immediate soothing effect and to promote skin healing. This prevents your horse from further rubbing. Apply the lotion to the affected areas at least once a day for the first 14 days. If necessary, apply twice a day. Preferably before the horse goes outside and returns to the stable. Once the itching decreases or disappears and the skin has healed, you can reduce the use to 3-4 times a week, and later possibly to 1-2 times a week. When itching increases again, for example, during periods when there are many midges active, such as warm, windless days, temporarily increase the frequency again. The lotion is very mild and can be used on the most sensitive parts of the skin. Always test the lotion on one spot before applying it to all affected areas. Avoid contact with mucous membranes and eyes.
The lotion is easy to use, very mild, dermatologically tested, and safe to use. Wearing gloves when applying the lotion is not necessary.
If your horse normally wears an eczema blanket, you can try using the lotion first in combination with the blanket. Once you notice that your horse has less or no itching, you can try leaving the blanket off for a day. If that goes well for a few days, etc. Of course, you can also start directly without the blanket. You need to judge this for yourself. Spray your horse daily with Skincalmin Neutralizing Spray to neutralize body odor and keep insects away.
Itching and crusts on the lower legs can be caused by a mite infection. Therefore, always consult a veterinarian first to rule this out. If mites are detected, the vet will advise you to wash the legs with a special anti-mite shampoo. Once mites are ruled out/eliminated, you can start treatment with Skincalmin Relief Lotion.
If necessary, trim or shave some hair and apply the lotion generously to the skin daily. Massage well.
Once the crusts loosen, you can gently remove them. Do not remove crusts that do not come off on their own. Be careful not to cause new open wounds!
Continue the treatment with the lotion daily until all crusts have disappeared.
Prevent new wound formation by treating the skin with the lotion every 3-14 days.
The occurrence of rasp may be related to reduced resistance, deficiencies in certain vitamins & minerals, or an excess of waste products in the body. In robust breeds, an excess of starch and sugars can exacerbate rasp. Therefore, treat rasp not only externally but also take a critical look at your horse's diet.
Vitalbix Daily Complete is a responsible choice for these horses as a supplement to roughage (low in starch & sugars, balanced content of vitamins & minerals). See www.vitalbix.com.
Omega-3 fatty acids from linseed have anti-inflammatory effects. Vitalbix Linseed Oil + Vitamin E can support the treatment of rasp.
You can help the body eliminate waste products by feeding herbs such as nettle, goosegrass, dandelion, or a special detox supplement.
