    Description of the twisted Icelandic stirrups:

    Since the stirrups already hang at a right angle to the horse, the leather doesn’t need to twist into the correct position during riding. This makes the stirrups easier to find and less likely to be lost. When the stirrup isn’t being used, it already hangs in the correct position. This also means you don’t have to constantly use your ankles to prevent the stirrups from twisting inward, making it easier for your ankles to relax.

    Attachment of Icelandic stirrups:

    The stirrup is designed with a forward curve on one side and a backward curve on the other. On the inside (horse-facing side), the stirrup should curve backward (toward the horse’s tail), while on the outside (away from the horse), it should curve forward (toward the horse’s nose). This arrangement reduces the risk of getting caught in the stirrup during a fall.
