Unlike other lambskin bareback pads, this one does not offer spine freedom. The shock-absorbing 3Mesh insert placed at the front of the bareback pad extends across the entire back. The bareback pad provides good support due to the pommels and the rear arch. The girth straps are also made of plastic material, which does not need to be greased and is water-resistant. The bareback pad is equipped with D-rings. The lambskin of this bareback pad has a wool height of 30mm. It is made from 100% Merino sheepskin.
Advantages of the lambskin bareback pad:
+ Lambskin is very soft for horse and rider, promotes pressure distribution
+ Removable shock-absorbing 3Mesh padding
+ Anatomically shaped
+ With thigh supports and back support for the rider
+ No lambskin under the sweat flaps for fine leg aids
+ With handle
+ Removable lambskin seat, easy to clean
Disadvantages of the sheepskin saddle:
- Lambskin, especially when new, is slippery and can cause the bareback pad to slide faster on round horses or provide less grip for the rider
- For the production of lambskin, a sheep is slaughtered, so the product is not sheep-friendly
- The bareback pad has rings to attach stirrups
- No V-girth system
The Engel bareback pad is ideal for:
- Use 2 to 3 times a week
- Horses or ponies with medium or no withers
- Riders who like to have a little more support
- Riders who want to sit very softly
The sheepskin bareback pad is less suitable for:
- Riders who need grip on the bareback pad
- Horses or ponies with (extremely) high withers
- Horses and ponies with prominent spines
Stirrups on lambskin bareback pad:
Like all bareback pads, it is not recommended to ride with stirrups on this lambskin bareback pad, as this causes pressure points on one to two vertebrae. However, it is possible to attach stirrup leathers with stirrups to this lambskin bareback pad.
Delivery and required accessories:
The bareback pad is delivered without a girth. For use, you need a dressage girth. A matching lambskin girth from Christ is available. Other dressage girths without lambskin, which can stabilize the position, are also commonly used.
