The EDIX western pad lambskin is anatomically shaped for an optimal fit. The pad provides spine freedom thanks to the inserts on both sides of the spine, and at the spine level, the lambskin is trimmed short. The advantage of trimmed lambskin is that there are no irritating seams running around the spine. The top of the pad is made of cotton, while the bottom is made of Merino lambskin. The lambskin is antibacterial, improves pressure distribution, and prevents chafing. There are 8 compartments for inserts/shims, one large on each side running across the entire pad, and 3 small ones allowing separate filling/shimming for front/middle/back.
Advantages of EDIX roundskirt western pad lambskin:
+ Trimmed channel for the spine in the lambskin underside provides more spine freedom and is seamless to prevent irritations
+ The lambskin underside contributes to pressure distribution under the saddle and prevents chafing
+ With shim options for making corrections in the saddle position
+ Slightly less surface area compared to square pads, therefore less heat
+ Provides more freedom of movement, especially for horses with short backs, as the round model interferes less in the flank area
Disadvantages of lambskin western pad:
- Lambskin, especially when new, can be slippery and may cause the saddle to shift more easily on round horses
- The production of lambskin involves slaughtering sheep, so the product is not animal-friendly
- To maintain the benefits of lambskin, a lambskin pad should be washed with lambskin detergent
The roundskirt pad with wool is ideal for:
- Sensitive horses
- Horses with sensitive skin
- Horses needing minor corrections without their saddle
- Use under treeless western saddles
- Roundskirt pads are preferable for horses with short backs compared to square pads
The roundskirt western pad is less suitable for:
- Horses whose saddles tend to shift quickly
The western pad comes with:
The pad comes with 6 felt shims of 3mm thickness and 2 felt inserts of 10mm thickness.
