Why feed with a hay net/slow feeder:
Feeding roughage (hay and silage) using a hay net prolongs the foraging time (eating time). The horse can take in smaller amounts of roughage at a time, similar to how it would in nature. In nature, a horse eats an average of 16 hours a day, and its digestive system is designed for this. A longer eating time has a positive effect on the digestive system, for example, reducing the risk of stomach ulcers or colic. A longer eating time also prevents boredom and reduces stable vices. An additional benefit is that less roughage is wasted with a hay net.
Dimensions of the hay net:
- Capacity approximately 10 kg: size 100 cm x 90 cm - mesh 4.5 cm
- Capacity approximately 5 kg: size 75 cm x 75 cm - mesh 4.5 cm
- Capacity approximately 2.5 kg: size 50 cm x 75 cm - mesh 4.5 cm
Material of the fine-mesh hay net:
The hay nets are made of polyester.
Color of the super strong slow feeder:
The hay net is beige and has a black hanging rope.
Placing the slow feeder:
The hay net bags should be hung so that they hang 20 cm above the ground at the bottom. This keeps the horse's natural foraging posture correct. Do not hang the bag above the horse's head, as this can cause dust to enter the horse's airways. Use at your own risk. It is advisable not to let the horse wear a halter or horseshoes when using the hay net to minimize the chance of the horse getting caught in the hay net.
