Why feed with a hay net/slow feeder:
Feeding roughage (hay and pre-dried forage) using a hay net slows down the feeding time. The horse can take in smaller amounts of forage at once, similar to how it would in nature. Horses eat an average of 16 hours a day in nature, and their digestive system is designed for this. A longer feeding time has a positive effect on the digestive system, such as a reduced risk of stomach ulcers or colic. Additionally, a longer feeding time reduces boredom and prevents stable vices. Another benefit is that less forage is wasted with a hay net.

Placing the slow feeder:
The hay net bags should be hung so that they are 20 cm above the ground. This maintains the horse's natural feeding posture. The net should not be hung above the horse's head, as this can cause dust to enter the horse's airways. Use at your own risk. It is recommended not to use a halter or horseshoes when using the hay net to minimize the risk of the horse getting caught in the net.
