What is a Bosal:

The bosal is a bitless bridle that originated with the Native Americans. The bosal is not a strap but rather a type of ring in the shape of a droplet around the horse's nose, with the point of the droplet directed towards the ground. The reins (mecate) are attached at the bottom. The system is based on relaxed reins; by moving the relaxed reins, you guide the droplet to the left or right to direct the horse.
