The EDIX western pad felt is anatomically shaped for an optimal fit. The pad can create extra spine clearance when inserts are placed in the designated pockets on either side of the spine. The top side of the pad is finished in trendy western print colors, while the underside and base are made of wool felt. There are 8 pockets for inserts/shims: 1 large one running across the entire pad on each side, and 3 smaller ones that allow you to fill/shim separately in the front, middle, and back.

Disadvantages of the EDIX Western Pad Square:
- Felt is difficult to wash, cannot be machine-washed
- Long inserts are not supplied for the lower insert pockets, as they are not always necessary. However, you can choose which inserts to use if needed.
- Square pads have a slightly larger surface area than round skirt pads, which can generate more heat in the summer.
The Square Pad Felt is ideal for:
- Horses where saddles tend to slip
- Horses needing small corrections without changing the saddle
- Use under treeless western saddles
- Use under (not too large) treeless all-purpose saddles. Due to the long sweat flaps, these pads are also suitable for all-purpose saddles, making them ideal for adding a western touch to your all-purpose saddle.
The Square Pad Felt is not ideal for:
- Horses with a short back, in which case the EDIX Round Skirt Pad is recommended instead of the Square Pad, as it offers more space in the flanks.

Care Instructions for Felt Pad:
Felt pads cannot be machine-washed, tumble-dried, or ironed. Clean them regularly with the supplied felt cleaning comb and vacuum them. In summer, you can rinse the pad with water, and for heavy soiling, you can wash it with a small amount of soap by hand. Let it dry naturally in its used shape, away from direct sunlight or heat sources. Care for the leather finish with Oakwood leather care from time to time.
