Hay Nets from Duranet
Hay Bale Hay Net/Slowfeeder for feeding roughage to horses and ponies, specially designed for large hay bales of approximately 500kg. Duranet produces high-quality nets. The nets are made of durable, knotless strong polypropylene with a wire thickness of 5mm. The hay bale nets have the largest dimensions of all Duranet hay nets. Comes with a (hanging) rope of 4m in length and 10mm in thickness.
Why feed with a Hay Net/Slowfeeder?
Feeding roughage (hay and silage) using a hay bale hay net slows down the feeding time. The horse can consume less large quantities of roughage at once, as is the case in nature. A horse in nature eats an average of 16 hours per day, and its digestive system is designed for that. A longer feeding time has a positive effect on the digestive system, such as reducing the risk of gastric ulcers. It also prevents boredom and reduces stable vices. An additional advantage is that less roughage is wasted with a hay net.
Use of the Hay Net specifically for Hay Bales
The bag can be used in a stand for a large hay bale but can also be used without other aids. Use is at your own risk. It is recommended not to put a halter or horseshoes on the horse when using a hay net; then there is only a minimal risk of the horse getting caught in the hay net. With the exception of a safety pasture halter, which comes off easily in case of emergency, see an example here.
Made in Europe
These hay nets are made in Belgium, so they have a low environmental impact. They are also made under good working conditions.
