To Use or Not to Use Leg Protection

There is much debate in equestrian sports about whether or not to use leg protection. With most tendon protectors, the temperature of the legs often rises quickly. For horses at rest (e.g., in the pasture), this is usually manageable, but especially during training, the temperature can rise so much that it may cause damage to the skin and tendons. When the heat becomes too high, the muscles receive less oxygen, which can lead to injuries more quickly.

In certain disciplines such as show jumping and cross-country/eventing, the risk of leg injuries is significantly higher than during a dressage session or a quiet hack. Therefore, it is often advisable to use leg protection in these disciplines to prevent injuries.

      Protection Without Overheating the Legs?

Do you want to protect your horse’s legs but avoid overheating them? We have the solution. In our range, we offer leg protectors from Compositi.

      Advantages of Compositi Leg Protectors

      • Open zones minimize the warming of the horse’s legs, especially after exertion.
      • The anatomical shape prevents the protector from rotating around the horse’s leg.
      • Lightweight.

Because these leg protectors have open areas, the horse’s legs do not warm up as quickly. This ensures you can protect your horse’s legs with peace of mind.
