Disadvantages of the HKM bareback pad:
- Sheepskin, especially when new, is slippery and may cause the bareback pad to slide more easily on round horses or reduce rider grip. This diminishes with use and can be accelerated by washing the bareback pad if necessary.
- Sheep are slaughtered for the production of sheepskin, making the product not animal-friendly.
- The bareback pad has rings for attaching stirrups.

Sheepskin care:
The bareback pad can be hand-washed using a specific sheepskin detergent. Sheepskin should dry slowly and should not be dried in direct sunlight. It can also be maintained using a sheepskin brush.
