Salt lick with biotin:
Biotin has a positive effect on the structure and resilience of hooves and hair. It promotes the formation of keratinocytes: the cells that make up hooves and hair. More keratinocytes ensure better quality of hoof horn and coat.

Vitamin E primarily plays a role in regulating cell metabolism. It also acts as an antioxidant, protecting cells. This contributes to better defense and an improvement in coat quality.

Why magnesium oxide in the salt lick instead of magnesium citrate or chelate:
When feeding magnesium to your horse, it is important that the magnesium dissolves well for the horse to absorb it. If a deficiency needs to be replenished, and therefore large amounts of magnesium need to be fed, a well stomach-soluble magnesium form like citrate or chelate is needed. However, in a salt lick, magnesium oxide comes into the stomach in small amounts, a maintenance dosage. The small amounts of magnesium oxide from a salt lick dissolve in the acidic environment of the stomach because it is such a small amount, making the magnesium absorbable for the horse. Additionally, magnesium oxide can better withstand the salty environment of the salt lick.
