Specific construction of wool fiber
Due to the specific construction of a wool fiber and the distance between the hairs on a sheepskin, a layer filled with stagnant air is created, which is why sheepskin naturally has a breathable and ventilating effect. The natural air conditioning of wool, wonderfully warm in winter and cool in summer. Wool is naturally water repellent and absorbent. Sheep wool can absorb up to 30% of its own weight in moisture without the fleece feeling wet or clammy.

The saddle pad is made of genuine Merino sheepskin. The western seat is equipped with a cutout for the horn, and cotton laces are attached to the underside for easy attachment to a western saddle.
Fur seat washing instructions
Regularly brushing out the dried sweat, preferably before each use, prevents hard spots from forming in the fur. Regularly gently beating with a rug beater keeps the fur airy.
Your fur product will freshen up when exposed to outdoor air. Do not expose to direct sunlight. Good airing in misty weather, and if there is snow, you can lay your fur product outside on the snow, which can be very refreshing and kills bacteria. Sheep are also not washed; the wool fiber naturally breaks down most contaminants.
Your fur product is naturally infused with lanolin, a natural wool fat. It is this property that allows your fur product to last for years with simple but regular maintenance without washing. Washing essentially removes this fat from the skin and wool fibers.
Therefore, it is absolutely necessary to use a special leather-wool detergent for washing. Any ordinary "supermarket" wool detergent will irreparably damage the product by removing this fat. EDIX® offers its leather-wool detergent N5 from FRA®, 220ml bottles, which possesses necessary fat-restoring properties. Preferably wash by hand or with the wool wash program at 30 degrees in your machine. Super light spinning at low speed is okay, then dry, absolutely not in the dryer. Drying is quite a task. We're talking about natural drying. Depending on your fur product (a nose pad has different proportions than a pad), this drying process can take several days or even up to 1 week. Absolutely not in the dryer but also not near the heater or in direct sunlight. Accelerated drying makes the skin rock hard.
During the natural drying process, regularly stretch and "knead" the product, never wring it. Maintain the original shape. (think of the well-known real chamois that has become hard after drying, which is used in households). Too rapid drying dries out the lanolin, added via the special detergent, resulting in a stiff and hard skin due to the absence of wool fat. Only through careful hand washing (do not soak) or machine washing and careful drying as described above, will your fur product retain its suppleness and shine, with the right detergent playing a central role!
