Hay nets from Duranet
Hay bale hay net/slow feeder for feeding roughage to horses and ponies, specially designed for large hay bales of approximately 500kg. Duranet produces high-quality nets. The nets are made of abrasion-resistant knotless strong polypropylene with a wire thickness of 5mm. The hay bale hay nets have the largest dimensions of all Duranet hay nets. Comes with a 4m long and 10mm thick (hanging) rope.
Why feed with hay net/slow feeder?
Feeding roughage (hay and pre-dried forage) with a hay bale hay net slows down feeding time. The horse can consume smaller amounts of roughage at a time, as it would in nature. Horses in the wild typically graze for about 16 hours a day, and their digestive system is adapted accordingly. A longer feeding time has a positive effect on the digestive system, reducing the risk of gastric ulcers, boredom, and stable vices. An additional benefit is that less roughage is wasted with a hay net.
Use hay net specifically for hay bales
The bag can be used in a stand for a large hay bale or even without other aids. Use is at your own risk. It is advisable not to let the horse wear a halter or horseshoes when using a hay net, as this minimizes the risk of the horse getting caught in the net. Except for a safety pasture halter, which can easily come off in case of emergency, see an example here.
Made in Europe
These hay nets are made in Belgium, so they have a low environmental impact. They are also produced under good working conditions.
