EDIX Uni Half Pad with Merino Sheepskin
A half pad is a pad with inserts for use under treeless saddles that can be used in combination with a "regular" saddle pad. This allows you to still use your previously collected saddle pad collection after purchasing a treeless saddle.
- Anatomically shaped
- Sheepskin underside
- Split at the withers
- Insert pockets on the underside
- 6 Shim pockets on the top
- Includes felt inserts
Fit of the sheepskin saddle pad:
The Uni treeless half pad is anatomically shaped for an optimal fit. The model is generously cut at the withers, so the pad is also suitable for horses with high withers. There is also a split at the withers. The underside of the half pad is made with high-quality Merino sheepskin with shorn spine clearance. There are two pockets for the inserts next to the spine on the underside. On the top, there are 6 Shim pockets for small adjustments in the saddle position. The pad comes with felt inserts and shims.
Advantages of the EDIX Uni half pad:
+ You can use regular saddle pads under your treeless saddle
+ Shorn channel for the spine on the sheepskin underside provides more spine clearance and is seamless to prevent irritation
+ The sheepskin underside contributes to pressure distribution under the saddle and prevents chafing
+ With Shim options for making adjustments to the saddle position
Disadvantages of the half pad:
- By using a half pad, you add an extra layer/pad to your saddle combination, the separate parts can slide against each other more quickly, and the thicker stack reduces the close contact feeling.
- Sheepskin, especially when new, is slippery and can cause the saddle to shift more quickly on round horses.
- Sheep are slaughtered for the production of sheepskin, so the product is not sheep-friendly.
EDIX half pads are ideal for:
- Riders with a large collection of "regular" saddle pads
- Horses with withers
- The UNI half pad with inserts is less suitable for:
- Horses with saddles that shift quickly
- Horses without withers, as this half pad provides a little too much room around the withers
Tips for using the EDIX half pad under a treeless saddle:
For optimal pressure distribution and spine clearance, place the half pad on your horse's back first, then the "regular" saddle pad, and then the saddle. If you place the half pad and the "regular" saddle pad the other way around, spine clearance is greatly reduced, as a regular saddle pad is more likely to lie tightly on the spine/withers.
