Instructions for Use
Does your horse have a hoof abscess? We recommend soaking the hoof daily, once or twice. For severe thrush, a deep-cleansing hoof bath once a week is also advisable. Soaking may also be helpful for White Line Disease, fungal infections, injuries from, for example, nailing, and sole bruises. Additionally, in the summer, soaking the hooves before shoeing makes it easier for your farrier or blacksmith to work.
If there is inflammation in the hoof (such as with a hoof abscess or laminitis), cooling can be beneficial for your horse. The Unique Horn Hoof Soaking Bag can also be filled with cold water or ice packs. Cool for at least 10 minutes, and use a timer (on your phone) to keep track of the time. Shorter cooling periods are not effective.
This Unique Horn Hoof Soaking Bag makes soaking your horse’s hooves much simpler. Fill the bag with a splash of Unique Horn Pure Hoof Soaker and water, and place the hoof in the bag. Then, pull the cord to tighten the bag around the leg. The additional Velcro closures allow you to seal the Unique Horn Hoof Soaking Bag even better. This keeps your horse’s hoof in the hoof bath, even if it takes a few steps during soaking.
Do not soak the hoof for more than 20 to 30 minutes at a time, and keep track of this time. Soaking for less time will not achieve the desired result. Also, do not let your horse stand in the wetness all day.
